Here's a poem I wrote about the element air for the children who came in to the Barbican for a workshop that a group of poets were running. It's meant to be a poem that you can perform with sounds and actions. Try it!
The yawn in the morning filling your mouth
with no one to start you yawning
air in my hair
air in the air
fffffffffffffff
The swing in the playground swinging
with no one on the swing to swing it
air in my hair
air in the air
fffffffffffffff
The balloon with its skin blown up tight
with no one blowing to tighten the skin
air in my hair
air in the air
fffffffffffffff
The open window where the cool blows in
with no one to blow the cool
air in my hair
air in the air
fffffffffffffff
The flame on the candles flaming
with no one to fan the flames
air in my hair
air in the air
fffffffffffffff
The sleepers breathing all night long
with only sleep to make them breathe
fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
